Public Works Crews Prepare For Extended Winter Weather Forecast

PITTSBURGH, PA (December 13, 2017) - The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works has issued a Level 2 Snow Alert effective 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017. At 3:00 p.m. today, the Snow Plow Tracker was activated for the Level 2 snow event that is expected to begin between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. today. Current forecasts predict that this Level 2 snow event is expected to be a quick moving storm dropping 2” to 4” of snow over a 15 hour period. The Snow Plow Tracker was active until 2:00 p.m. today with coverage information from the previous Level 1 Snow event that began on December 12 and was scheduled to last until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14. As of 3:00 p.m. today, the Snow Plow Tracker will display coverage for the new Level 2 Snow Alert...

Apply Now for the Ascender 2018 Incubator Cycle

Ascender is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit whose mission is to help early stage entrepreneurs of any industry (including nonprofits) by offering dedicated workspace, financial support, mentorship, and connectivity. This entrepreneurial hub is located in East Liberty to take advantage of proximity both to our city's major universities, as well as to many established startups. They have launched their 2018 Incubator Application Cycle to help Pittsburgh entrepreneurs start and build companies.

Creating More Economic Opportunity with Google.org Impact Challenge Pittsburgh

The Google.org Impact Challenge Pittsburgh gives local nonprofits the opportunity to make our neighborhoods better by creating economic opportunity in the Pittsburgh area. Four winners will each receive $50,000 grants, plus training from Google to jump-start their projects. Then, the public will vote on a grand winner which will receive an additional $50,000!

The proposal was submitted jointly by City of Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Allegheny Conference on Community Development CEO Stefani Pashman.

Ready for the Next Level? Apply for a Lift Grant!

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council -- via a generous grant from the Hillman Foundation -- has a new grant program for artists and organizations to create unique projects meant to "help propel artistic careers to the next level." The Council will award $5,000 to $20,000 Lift Grants twice annually to artists, organizations, nonprofits, and artistic collaborations within Southwestern Pennsylvania (Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland counties).
