The Sprout Fund serves as a catalyst by providing crucial financial support for small-scale and first-time projects. Seeding these types of programs in the early stages can payoff big time for communities in Pittsburgh. One such program is their Change Machine project. It provides $500 grants for youth-led initiatives.

Young people (ages 18 and younger) from Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities of Southwestern Pennsylvania who have ideas to make a positive change in their community are eligible to apply. Here’s what they’re looking for in a potential project:

The Change Machine provides $500 grants to support, celebrate, and showcase unique youth-led initiatives with the power to incite positive change. Change Machine projects are innovative, non-traditional ideas that focus on current issues and challenges faced by youth, and inspire a diverse group of participants to be more active, involved, and civically-engaged.

Applications will be accepted on the first Friday of February, May, August, and November and the winners are typically announced within five to six weeks.
