April 22nd is Earth Day, but here in Pittsburgh, we’ll be celebrating citywide from Thursday, April 21st to Sunday, April 24th! This year’s theme is “Steel to Sustainable” — honoring our transformation from Steel City to a thriving home for green innovation. Come out and help celebrate all the advancements made in sustainability, technology, and innovation where people live, work, and play!

Pittsburgh Earth Day’s Ecolution Fashion Show
The show will kick off the extended weekend of green celebration at the Fairmont Hotel. VIP attendees will enjoy a cocktail hour from 6PM-7PM featuring a special DJ performance by Steve Hackman from Stereo Hideout. A Press Conference at 8:00 AM at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center will kick off the Sustainability Business Breakfast where the official Steel to Sustainable video will be revealed. Takes place from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on 10th Street at the Convention Center.

Mellon Square Lunchtime Bluegrass Concert and Marketplace
Performances by Molly Alphabet, The Armadillos and The Beagle Brothers.

Paint the Square Green in Market Square
Takes place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM featuring the Goodwill Green Fashion Challenge with DJ Nugget, Mia, Rachel B, Nina Sainato, with live painter Sarah Zeffiro, Pioneer Records Showcase & Ishtar.

Art + Artifact Market
This is an official Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Gallery Crawl stop happening at the Convention Center from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Handmade Arcade vinyl spin art, local art and vendors. Music and visuals by DETOUR.

Steel to Sustainable Festival
The festival will be held at the Carrie Furnaces at the former U.S. Steel Homestead Works. Live entertainment includes Barrels to Beethoven, Red Room Effect, Colonel Eagleburger’s HighStepping Goodtime Band and Daily Grind. Enjoy food trucks and an on-site beer garden for 21+ guests. This festival will raise funds for Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area. Tickets are available at

The Pittsburgh Earth Day TEDxPittsburgh Brunch
The TEDxPittsburgh Brunch will conclude the 2016 celebration at the new Downtown restaurant, Revel + Roost. Local TEDx speakers will share a series of talks on sustainability. Guest speakers include 2015 TEDx alum Diane Turncheck speaking on light pollution and 2014 TEDx alum Leah Lizarondo discussing food waste. The event will also feature a new TEDx speaker cider maker Michael Sturges from A Few Bad Apples who will talk about using forgotten fruit for philanthropy. Tickets are available at
