PITTSBURGH, PA (April 8, 2016) – The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works has issued a Snow Level 1 Alert effective 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016.

The City of Pittsburgh Snow Plow Tracker will be activated by 10:00 p.m. tonight. Approximately 50 vehicles will be deployed throughout the city to monitor conditions and treat streets overnight. Crews will being working 12-hour shifts starting at 10:00 p.m.

The current forecast is for 1″ to 3″ of snow starting anytime after 12:00 a.m. Saturday morning and snowfall is expected last until early Saturday afternoon. In addition to the city’s sufficient salt supply, temperatures, daylight and sunshine expected on Saturday should contribute to improved street conditions.

Environmental Services refuse collection remains on schedule for Saturday morning.
