October is National Solar Tour Month at the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), so tours and open houses are being held across the country now. In our region, October 17th will see the fifth annual Pittsburgh Solar Tour. The tour gives participants the chance to tour both featured solar installations and open houses.

Pittsburgh Solar Tour is self-guided–take in one stop or see as many as you can. There are nearly 20 places to visit (a map of locations can be found here). And, the tour is completely free and open to the public thanks to support by Levin Furniture, the first furniture retailer in the nation to install solar panels. The Pittsburgh Solar Tour is sponsored by PennFuture, the Solar Unified Network of Western PA (SUNWPA), Solarize Allegheny, and Pittsburgh Green Innovators.

Unique to this year will be an after party for all solar owners and participants at the Kingsley Association. Meet and mingle with environmentally-minded Pittsburghers over free drinks and food.
