Luminari is a nonprofit group, based in Pittsburgh, which was founded to “broaden minds, inspire innovations and promote community engagement.” They currently sponsor a diverse range of summer programs for teens including workshops and camps that help teens to master the art of diplomacy, learn how to write in different genres, and inspire budding culinary artists. Class sizes are small and some scholarships are available.

Programs for this summer include:

I Want To Be An Ambassador! Camp
What: The only summer camp of its kind in Western PA, the seven-day summer camp is designed to “help teens master the skill sets and character traits of a successful Ambassador… especially the vital art of diplomacy.”
When: June 16 – June 24, 2015, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm (excluding weekends)
Where: Heinz History Center and various locations in Washington DC

Fantastic Fiction Writing
What: “[T]eenagers develop a complete fiction story, and workshop it just as the pros do.”
When: July 6 – July 9, 2015, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Where: WQED Multimedia, 4802 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Journalism and Opinion Writing
What: “[T]his intensive one-day workshop will teach you how to turn your unique observations into thoughtful and thought-provoking writing.”
When: July 10, 2015, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Where: WQED Multimedia, 4802 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Camp Delicious
What: “[T]eens will gain new skills and confidence to create meals, discover new flavors and gain independence in the kitchen.”
When: July 6 – July 10, 2015, 9 am – 3 pm
