In February, everyone from top government officials to community, business and faith-based leaders to Steelers legend Jerome Bettis joined together to declare this summer as the “Summer of Learn and Earn.” The initiative seeks to match 1,300 economically disadvantaged youths (ages 14 to 21) from the city and 700 more from Allegheny County with summer jobs that will help position them for later careers at the city’s growing network of 21st Century employers.

Now, interested and qualified youths can obtain applications for these jobs on the City’s website here. Youths may apply from Friday, April 10, 2015 through Thursday, April 30, 2015. All applications must be submitted in person at one of the locations listed on the application.

Next, a reminder that on Friday, April 10, the East End Works Summer Job Fair will be held at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s East Liberty branch (130 S. Whitfield Street). You can learn more about the youth job fair here.

Also, a reminder that Pittsburgh’s Citiparks Aquatics Division is currently recruiting lifeguards for the 2015 summer season. You can learn more about that program here.

Lastly, both youths and adults interested in jobs assisting with the Swim & Water Polo Camp which is part of the Pittsburgh Public Schools’ Summer Dreamers program can apply here.
