Yoga provides a myriad of benefits both physical and mental to its practitioners. The Pittsburgh Yoga Collective (PYC) is a nonprofit organization located in Pittsburgh whose mission is to bring the practice of yoga and mindfulness to the many diverse populations and groups in the Pittsburgh region, including underserved and at-risk populations. The collective was created by Caitlin Lasky who brings her passion for helping others and her love of yoga combined with her work in local non-profits and her yoga training here, in Philadelphia, D.C. and New York City to create this brand new initiative. pittsburgh-yoga-collective-bringing-the-benefits-of-yoga-to-underserved-at-risk-communities-logo The goals for Pittsburgh Yoga Collective include:

  • Bringing the practice of yoga and mindfulness to underserved and at-risk populations in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.
  • Raising awareness regarding the physical and mental health benefits of yoga to populations such as veterans, at-risk youth, people with disabilities, and the elderly and to those organizations that serve such populations.
  • Providing professional development to insure that Yoga Alliance Certified instructors receive personalized training to “open the door” and/or enhance their existing work with diverse populations.
