PITTSBURGH, PA (Nov. 5, 2014) “I want to formally congratulate Tom Wolf on his victory in the Pennsylvania governor’s race Tuesday. I left him a message last night and look forward to giving him my congratulations in person soon.

Western Pennsylvania officials jumped on the Wolf train early, and we got behind Tom because we not only believed that he was a candidate who could win, but he was the one who most likely aligned with the kind of things we want to do out here. The County Executive and I have worked very closely to work off of one page, so when we go to Harrisburg or to Washington we have one agenda and work together to get things accomplished. We’ve had numerous conversations together and separately with Governor-elect Wolf about priorities we would like to see happen, and I’m expecting to see a lot of action.

I realize the Republican pickups in the Senate and the House would deter many from believing action can happen, but I think if you look at President Obama’s second term, his realization was there are lots of things he could do without having to go directly through Congress, and he could work directly with governors, county executives and mayors on issues he and they cared about. I think we’re going to see a lot of that same opportunity happening with Gov. Wolf.

I also want to thank Gov. Corbett for all he’s done for Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. I especially need to thank the Governor for working with us to back vitally important financial stability measures here in his home city.”
