April 3, 2013, Pittsburgh, PA – Pittsburgh City Councilman Patrick Dowd will endorse his colleague Bill Peduto for Mayor today during a 9:30 a.m. press conference on the portico of the City County Building, stating need for next mayor to be able to work with all levels of government.

“Never before has it been more crucial for city and county government to work shoulder to shoulder on issues such as water and sewer system reinvestment, transportation and economic development,” Dowd states as the foundation for his endorsement.

Dowd joins a coalition of elected officials from various levels of government who have endorsed Peduto are Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, State Senator Wayne Fontana, State Representative Ed Gainey of Larimer, State Representative Erin C. Molchany of Mount Washington, City Councilman Bruce Kraus of the South Side, and City Councilwoan Natalia Rudiak of Carrick.

Peduto’s list of union endorsements are the Laborers’ District Council of Western Pennsylvania, one of the largest labor councils in the United States representing building construction workers; SEIU Local 32BJ, the largest property service workers union in the country; the United Steel Workers; Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees; Fraternal Association of Professional Paramedics, Local 1; Ironworkers Local Union No. 3; AFSCME District Council 84; UFCW Local 23, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local #3; and Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #12.
