Bill Peduto will receive the joint endorsement of the United Steelworkers District 10 and the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees (SOAR) at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 at the United Steelworkers Building, 60 Blvd. of the Allies.

“I endorse Bill Peduto for Mayor of Pittsburgh because he is the best choice for our members and for all working families in Pittsburgh,” says USW District 10 Director John DeFazio.

SOAR Director Edwards adds, “Our members confidently endorse Bill Peduto for mayor. We believe he will turn the city around and that working people, active and retired, will see their lives improve under his administration.”

As the front runner in the mayor’s race and grandson of Pittsburgh steelworkers, Bill Peduto responds, “We appreciate these endorsements and look forward to continuing to serve the members of both USW and SOAR while working to expand Pittsburgh’s working class.”

USW and SOAR join a growing list of elected officials and labor organizations supporting Bill Peduto as the best candidate to take Pittsburgh in the right direction. Councilman Peduto has secured additional endorsements from SEIU Local 32BJ, the largest property service workers union in the country; the Laborers’ District Council of Western Pennsylvania, one of the largest labor councils in the United States representing building construction workers; Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald; City Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak of Carrick; State Representative Erin C. Molchany of Mount Washington; and City Councilman Bruce Kraus of the South Side.
