Are you looking to expand your business to New York City? Want a view of the Statue of Liberty? Do you get a nosebleed above 14th Street? Well, do we have a competition for you! Take the HELM is seeking to attract businesses to Lower Manhattan. If you’ve always wanted to take a bite out of the Big Apple, they want to welcome you to the neighborhood and reward you with a cash grant to ease your way. Take the H.E.L.M. (Hire & Expand in Lower Manhattan) wants to attract the best and the brightest to lower, Lower Manhattan (below Chambers Street) and diversify the economic base of this central business district. To qualify, you need to plan to open a new office or expand an existing office in that neighborhood and actually enter into a new lease, sublease, or license agreement for that office space by September 13, 2013.

Take the HELM will choose up to 20 finalists to receive $10,000 each. Finalists will also participate in exclusive business development programs and have the opportunity to interview with the all-star Selection Committee (which includes Arthur Levitt, Senior Advisor to The Carlyle Group; Kenneth I. Chenault, Chairman and CEO of American Express Company; and Richard Parsons, Senior Advisor at Providence Equity Partners, Inc. and former Chairman of the Board and CEO of Time Warner, Inc., to name a few). You’ll want to ace that interview with the judges as up to four winners will receive an additional $250,000!
